hi my name is laurie and i am a mother of two girls one 18 year old who will be attending college in the fall and a daughter who is 9 years old so ive been braiding hair and styling hair for a long time i also have a son who is 16 and decided he wanted to dread his hair and have had them for a year now and watching him get his hair locked and having to help maintain his hair really has me interested in the art of starting locks and twist and doing lock extentions and hope that these online classes can help me make my family hair healthy,beauty, and will help me learn a trade that will provide for us as well. |

Natural is were it’s at now days. I have been natural for a year, my hair has grown faster and longer than it was before I did the BIG CHOP. I don’t knock anyone for there choice of hair care, to me its all about healthy hair. Being able to obtain my license will allow me to shed some of my knowledge to clients. I have always felt doing hair is my special talent that needs to be sheared. My family has been blessed with four barber shops over the last six years, THANK GOD!!! As a hard working mother I feel it is far time to help my family businesses while being my own BOSS. My primary goal is to provide a quality hair care line and services to those who are looking to transition back to their natural roots. I have to thank God for allowing me to come this far. I HAVE BEEN DOING HAIR SINCE I WAS ABLE TO WALK. I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE MAY FIND THAT FUNNY BUT IT IS TRUE. I USED TO DO MY DOLLS HAIR AND ANY ONE WHO WOULD LET ME .MY ONLY DREAM IN LIFE IS TO BECOME A SALON OWNER AND I THINK HAIR BRAIDING WOULD BE A WONDERFUL START FOR ME. I LOVE MAKING PEOPLE LOOK GOOD AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEM SELF. I KNOW THAT NOT IF BUT WHEN I DO GET MY BRAIDING LICENSE IT WILL OPEN ALOT OF DOORS FOR ME I CAN WORK IN A SALON,SPA, OR I CAN EVEN OPEN MY OWN BOOTH.THIS IS A MAJOR GOAL IN MY LIFE THAT I NEED TO ACCOMPLISH, I JUST HAD TWO BEAUTIFUL BABIES AND I NEED TO SUPPORT THEM IN ANY WAY I CAN ,AND WITH HAIR BRAIDING I WILL NOT ONLY BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF MY KIDS BUT I WILL BE WORKING IN A FIELD THAT I LOVE. MY FAMILY NEVER HAD ALOT GROWING UP AND I DID'NT GET TO DO THINGS THAT OTHER KIDS WERE DOING. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT MY KIDS HAVE A BETTER LIFE THAN ME AND GET WHAT THEY DESERVE AND I KNOW THAT WITH MY BRAIDING LICENSE I WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE THEM A GREAT LIFE AND AT THE SAME TIME SET A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR THEM BY SHOWING THEM THEY TO CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING ONCE THEY PUT THERE MIND TO IT. I recommend to all the braiders out there thats doing it bootleg, please go see my girl Arnesa and get your certification in something that you love to do. My name is Johnesia Smith. I've been braiding since I was in the fifth grade. I mastered a series of braids in a short period of time. Micros, cornrolls, and weave plaits are examples of the different styles of braiding I'm proficient at doing. I've been putting off my talent for a very long time and I've decided to obtain my license and continue to strive hard in the field. I'm certain that it can be done with diligence, integrity, and determination!!! |

I've been braiding hair since I was about 14 years old. I have loved braiding and I am very passionate about styling hair, particularly natural hair styles. Now that I'm 25 I'd like to become more knowledgeable on the other types of hair styling such as weaves and extensions, and I hope to one day have a shop of my own. |
